S&P: Subprime Mortgages Rated Higher Than US

Thank President Downgrade next November by putting him in the long unemployment lines that he created: S&P Rates Subprime Mortgages Higher Than U.S.

Standard & Poor’s is giving a higher rating to securities backed by subprime home loans, the same type of investments that led to the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, than it assigns the U.S. government.

S&P is poised to provide AAA grades to 59 percent of Springleaf Mortgage Loan Trust 2011-1, a set of bonds tied to $497 million lent to homeowners with below-average credit scores and almost no equity in their properties. New York-based S&P stripped the U.S. of its top rank on Aug. 5, saying Washington politics were making the country less creditworthy.

Historically each $1 in higher taxes results in $1.17 of new spending. And all the tax increases since WWII haven't brought down the debt one red cent. Not one. Increasing taxes to cut the deficit will do just the opposite because Democrats will simply spend it and then some. It. Is. A. Historical. Fact. The problem isn't revenues. It's spending. But the tone deaf don't get that. Show me where, since WWII that the debt has come down even once no matter the tax increases:

Cuts need to be made and need to be made yesterday.

It's all about him: Obama schedules jobs speech on the same night as GOP debate, wants GOP to reschedule! UPDATE: Obama blinks, will give speech on Sept 8, same night as NFL premier!

Well of course he did! He has no life outside of politics. None. It's just what he is, and campaigning is all he does. So a year after promising to get on jobs after his vacation (Bad Anniversary: Obama August 30, 2010 - Says He'll Have A Plan For The Economy After Returning From Vacation), his remedy for his failed policies is... another speech. Ironically, hi speech that he is scheduling on the same night as a GOP debate will call for... putting politics aside! I kid you not! From The Hill:

In a letter to congressional leaders requesting the Sept. 7 slot, the president said he will urge Congress to put aside politics and focus on creating jobs during the 8 p.m. speech.

Uh um. So what then is up with this:

The speech will fall on the same night Texas Gov. Rick Perry makes his debut on the GOP 2012 debate stage. The Republican presidential field is set to take part in a debate, also scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, Calif.

Asked whether the speech was purposefully scheduled the same night as the Republican debate, White House press secretary Jay Carney said "of course not."

"It is coincidental," said Carney, who explained that a number of considerations were taken into account when Obama settled on Sept. 7.
