Tony Bennett Goes Truther - Blames America For 9-11

Or is he going Ron Paul? In any case, Bennett's been infected with liberalitis:

UPDATE: More via memeorandum: Tony Bennett on 9/11 Attacks: ‘They Flew the Plane in, But We Caused It’
American icon Tony Bennett took to the airwaves at Sirius Radio to promote his new album, “Duets II,” but it’s what he said about war, peace, terrorism, and who was to blame for the Sept. 11 terror attacks that could get people talking.

Sitting down with Howard Stern on Monday, the 85-year-old singer dodged questions about his sex life and prior drug use. He did so with a laugh, but matters about the U.S. military and 9/11 were fair game, and on these topics the Grammy winner held little back.

...Stern then asked Bennett about how America should deal with terrorists, specifically those responsible for the 2001 attack on the World Trade Center.

“But who are the terrorists? Are we the terrorists or are they the terrorists? Two wrongs don’t make a right,” Bennett said.

In a soft-spoken voice, the singer disagreed with Stern’s premise that 9/11 terrorists’ actions led to U.S. military involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“They flew the plane in, but we caused it,” Bennett responded. “Because we were bombing them and they told us to stop.”

Michelle Obama during 911 ceremony; all that for a freaking flag?

Somewhere out there, a lip reader knows exactly what she said, but check out this video where several bloggers insist that she appears to be saying "all that for a freaking flag?" during a 911 ceremony where NYPD bagpipers bring out and unfurl a tattered US Flag:
Any lip readers out there want to chime in?

UPDATE: More flag derangement syndrome: Officials stop NAU students from passing out flags
Northern Arizona University students who were passing out American flags Friday in remembrance of 9/11 got a bigger response than they expected.

No fewer than four university officials and a police officer descended on the group, accusing them of hindering foot traffic and lacking an advance permit.

"9/11 is very important to me," said student Stephanee Freer. "That's why I do the event. Every year, I do something for 9/11 and it's never been disrupted like this."

University spokesman Tom Bauer said it had nothing to do with what they were saying and everything to do with keeping traffic moving.
And it took 4 officials and a police officer to tell them. Um - yeah... And since when does one need a permit to hand out Old Glory?

Worst Moment of GOP Debate: Ron Paul Blames US For 911, Rightly Gets Booed

Ron Paul toasted himself so bad last night that he might as well drop out this very moment. He, once again, blamed the US for the 911terror attack 10 years ago. Paul makes a lot of sense on fiscal policy, but when it comes to foreign policy he goes off the rails so badly that he becomes the weird grand uncle of whom family members wonder if he eats his own excrement when they're not looking. Via BreitbartTV, Paul got booed mercilessly by the crowd and kudos to those attendees for doing so:

Pic of the Day: John Conyers (D-Detroit) takes nap at 911 10th anniversary vigil

For some of us, 911 is an opportunity to remember those that lost their lives, and that evil does exist in this world, and needs to be met head on. For others, it's nappy nappy time:
Via The Oakland Press, with this caption:
John Conyers takes a nap during a Sept. 11, 2001 tenth anniversary vigil at The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn.
On the plus side, at least he wasn't reading his porn mags openly in public this time: John Conyers caught on video openly checking out naked women in Playboy on plane to DC. So there's that.

Exit question: With all the taxpayer money that Conyers has stolen from the productive to buy the votes of the unproductive with, you would think there would be a couple bucks left over to buy one of these:

Video: 150 NYC school children visit firehouses and thank firefighters with song

On a tip from Angela K:
To commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11, State Farm partnered with award-winning director Spike Lee to film a touching tribute to thank the heroes of New York. Nearly 150 school children (ages 8-11) from the New York City area visited four firehouses and thanked the firefighters through song.

"Break Crazy Tea Party Bubble": Obama Adviser Van Jones Reveals The Strategy Behind Villainizing The Tea Party

Appropriate for a truther right after the 10th anniversary of 911. So is this: Van Jones Compares ‘Un-American’ GOP to Terrorists; Putting ‘Gun to Head of 310 Million People’
Van Jones, he is a self described communist. He is also the co-founder of the radical group Color of Change that spearheaded the boycott against Glenn Beck, which backfired, and epically at that. Van Jones and his STORMtroopers (STORM - Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement) blamed and denounced America for the 9/11 terrorist attacks - the day after the attack! Jones called Republicans @ssholes back in February just before the non-stimulus stimulus package was rammed through without anyone having read it. Van Jones also went into total wackjob mode in this video accusing "white polluters" of steering pollution into black communities:
This is the company that Obama keeps.

Paul Krugman: 911 America's "Occasion for Shame"; claims Rudy Giuliani, George W. Bush cashed in on the horror

Good grief. Ironically, the column here is as follows: The Conscience of a Liberal. Really? They have the approval of their conscience in matters such as dismembering babies? And the headline of the post: The Years of Shame. Shame? Yup:
What happened after 9/11 — and I think even people on the right know this, whether they admit it or not — was deeply shameful. Te atrocity should have been a unifying event, but instead it became a wedge issue. Fake heroes like Bernie Kerik, Rudy Giuliani, and, yes, George W. Bush raced to cash in on the horror. And then the attack was used to justify an unrelated war the neocons wanted to fight, for all the wrong reasons.

A lot of other people behaved badly. How many of our professional pundits — people who should have understood very well what was happening — took the easy way out, turning a blind eye to the corruption and lending their support to the hijacking of the atrocity?

The memory of 9/11 has been irrevocably poisoned; it has become an occasion for shame. And in its heart, the nation knows it.
Good grief, Krugman1 Can you just shut your pie hole for a single day? It's not about you, or your moonbattery. It's about the almost 3,000 that died 10 years ago.

Not to be outdone(but they were by Krugman), The Detroit Free Press wet into moonbat mode today as well: The almost impossible question to answer about the 9/11 attacks remains 'why?. Earth to freep: because evil does exist in the world. It is black and white. The end.

UPDATE: The hypocrisy here is breathtaking. This was written by a rabid pro-abort over at The Detroit Free Press: The greatest victims were our children. Earth to freep - write editorials opposing the dismemberment of our children, and then maybe we'll let you use kids as human shields for your agenda. Maybe.

UPDATE #2: Via memeorandum: Megyn Kelly Hosts Fiery Debate Over Paul Krugman's ‘Years Of Shame’ 9/11 Column
Kelly then asked Benjamin why Krugman would bring up such a sore subject on the 10-year anniversary of 9/11 to which she pointed out that the controversial NY Times columnist should be lauded for starting a dialog and making a “courageous statement.”

UPDATE #4: Via Instapundit:
JAMES TARANTO ON PAUL KRUGMAN: History’s Smallest Monster.
And from another thread:
THOUGHTS ON PAUL KRUGMAN from The Anchoress. “More than anything, Krugman and Dowd have, since 9/11, seemed utterly terrified by an event that didn’t fit their worldview and which forced them to depend upon people they hated for their safety and security. Rather like teenagers who hate that they actually need their stupid, out-of-touch parents, and must constantly howl about it to their friends, who join in because they realize they’re supposed to hate their parents, too. . . . It strikes me that Krugman is, in his own way, taking an ironic stand against the dictatorship of relativism that our pope so frequently decries. After a lifetime of suggesting that there are many kinds of truth, Krugman is now asserting that there is only ONE truth, and it is absolute. And it is his.”

Video snippet from 'PATH TO 911': The scene the Clintons didn't want you to see

From the YouTube caption:
Last year, ABC and Disney appeared to cave to political pressure from Bill Clinton, Sandy Berger, and Democrat leaders in the Senate. As a result, a key scene that was critical of the Clinton administration's mishandling of Osama bin Laden never made it to broadcast television. To this day, Disney refuses to release the movie on DVD.
For his part, Clinton is content blaming everyone but himself:

On 911, We Mourn The Loss Of 3,000 Innocent Lives 10 Years Ago. Let's Not Forget The Other 50 Million Americans That Met Just As Bad An End

Like so many other Americans today, I am remembering 911 and the tragic loss of life on that fateful day 10 years ago. 3,000 people. Smashed. Burned. Splattered on the pavement when forced to jump from a firestorm. Pulverized in Pennsylvania. Who knows how many were butchered on the airplanes with boxcutters and improvised tools. On the order of an hour, 3,000 Americans had their lives snuffed out.

The entire country shuttered and wept at the senseless loss. But an even greater tragedy should be remembered also. Not just on this day but always. It should be remembered that 50 million babies have lost their lives since the Roe v Wade SCOTUS decision that was nothing short of judicial fiat. Just to put that into perspective, that is equivalent to 1,700 911 attacks. Not long ago, the World Wildlife Fund ran into a firestorm of controversy when an ad it approved went viral on the internet (World Wildlife Fund Ad Exploits 9/11 Terror Attack - Part 2: The Video):
The ad is insensitive to 911 because it equates one thing with another, minus a logical connection. With the loss of so many of our unborn to nothing short of butchery, there is a parallel to be made however. For one, the 3,000 Americans murdered on the day the towers fell didn't choose to die. But their killers did choose to murder them. As far as I know, not a single baby has been murdered because that's what the baby wanted. The horrific manner in which abortions are performed is nothing short of the barbarism on full display 8 years ago by madmen. Saline solution to burn the baby to death in the womb. Dismemberment. Mutilation. Ironically, beheading is a typical result. What remains of these babies is simply flushed down the toilet, like fecal matter.

For more scale, what would be our response if a terrorist attack occurred wiping out the combined populations of California, Washington and Oregon? Those 3 states combined have a population close to 50 million. If you wiped them all out, that is the scale of what abortion has done. Many of those 50 million would have had their own children by now, so the actual number of Americans that would be with us if not for their murder is substantially higher than the 50 million dead. If you prefer an example closer to home, 50 million is about the combined population of Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Arizona and Iowa. Better?

So let us always remember the tragedy of 911, but let us never forget another even greater tragedy occurring right here at home. In Michigan this month alone, more than 2,000 babies will lose their lives.

A big hat tip to The Other McCain who posted this a year ago today:
If you have some time to spare, it is well worth the watch.

Related, a post from last year: Who would have thought that on 911, 9 years later, ... From a post of mine last year by Van Helsing, who would have thought that:

  • We would have a president who picked as a close White House adviser someone who stated that America got what was coming to us 9-11, that the United States was a terrorist country, and whose minister had said the same.
  • That the president who had kept the country safe from further terror attacks for eight years -- who turned Iraq and Afghanistan from our mortal enemies into our nominal allies -- would be reviled as a "war criminal."
  • We would elect a president who would say that victory over the terrorists isn't really our objective
  • We would have a Congressional leadership that was ready to cede Afghanistan back to the Taliban, because they didn't think the public thought winning was worth it
  • The president and his administration would be forbidden to speak of the 'War on Terrorism' because the language was considered politically incorrect. Instead, of a terror attack, the events on 9-11-2001 would be considered merely a "man-caused disaster."
  • Our Supreme Court would have concluded that the foreign terrorists who destroyed the WTC were entitled to the same Constitutional Rights as the Americans they butchered
  • We would have a president eager to bring terrorists onto American soil, and would have released other terrorists to taxpayer paid vacations in tropical paradises
  • The president and his party would be seeking to prosecute intelligence agents who put their lives on the line to protect Americans from another attack.
  • We would have members of an entire political party who thought pouring water on a terrorist's nose to save American lives was a horror beyond the pale.
  • Hollywood would have released several movies depicting our soldiers and intelligence services as the bad guys (Redacted, Syriana, War Inc, Lions for Lambs, In the Valley of Elah) , and the terrorists as innocent victims (Rendition).
  • A film-maker who described Islamic terrorists as "equivalent to our Minutemen" would be given a place of honor in the president's box at the DNC convention.
  • We would have a president who apologized to Islamic countries for America defending ourselves against terrorists
  • We would have a president that stood by and did nothing while the world's leading sponsor of terror developed nuclear weapons
  • Our borders would still be wide open, and two successive administrations would have done nothing to secure them.
  • An environmental group would use the horrific images of the murder of 2,800 people as part of a hip, edgy ad campaign.

Video: NYC Idiot Mayor Bloomberg Defends Banning Clergy & Rescue Workers From 911 Anniversary Ceremony

This man is an sanctimonious, insufferable idiot fit only to be tarred and feathered. Religious leaders, rescue workers, police officers, first responders and others are not being included as program participants in 911 anniversary ceremonies today. Remembering 911 - 10 years ago

It really doesn't seem like 10 years have passed already, but it has. I still remember exactly what I was doing on that day and how everything went down. Back in 2001, I was at work when I got a call from my wife.

She said an airplane had hit the world trade center. At that point, I had thought that it was a small single-engine prop plane and was not a big deal - just a small accident with minimal loss of life. Equivalent to traffic accidents that happen every day in our country. A bit later, another call. Another plane had hit. I knew then that this was not a small accident. Something was happening. I was still working when another call came in from my wife, now clearly distressed, that one of the towers had collapsed. I was numb. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I kept my composure and calmed my wife. I kept working. But thoughts were racing through my head. I was imagining what had happened. What was going on. Then yet another phone call. The other tower fell. In tears, I packed up my equipment, and put it away, the job not yet done. I went home. Everyone went home. All my neighbors had to leave work and went back to their families. I was glued to the tv and the internet for the rest of that day. But I was restless. I wanted to do something. But there wasn't much any of us could do. The internet page for CNN had only one headline and no stories "UNDER ATTACK!"

I'll never forget that day.

I read the stories every 9-11. Such as that of the 911 children. Or the falling man. Or "let's roll." Many stories are out there. I will be spending some time today reading them like I do every year.

What were you doing on that fateful morning?

And by the way, is it just me, or does it seem wrong that we at the 10 year anniversary of the attack and Ground Zero is still missing a complete replacement building?

UPDATE: Ten years ago today, an act of war.
