How can liberals possibly be party to murdering these babies, but show outrage when a cop killer in Georgia is put to death?

Video: Huge Tarantula Freaks Out Weatherman
They look hairy and nasty, but tarantulas are pretty vanilla as far as spiders go. Want to see the nasty ones? Go to Australia, where they have something like 9 of the top 10 deadliest, including the bird eating spider that I got to see in action in '99. It was cool. And there is the Sydney Common spider that is also deadly and about the size of a paper plate. Glad I didn't see that one. But for those with a phobia of spiders, it doesn't really matter:

Pic of the Day: Hurricane Irene approaches NC shore
If this isn't Cape Hatteras (I can't make out the lighthouse but it may there there nonetheless), it's certainly somewhere near there. My family and I were there just 2 short weeks ago. Via Doug Ross: 15 Photos of #HurricaneIrene Spotted on Twitter. Here's the one that caught my attention:

So what exactly is that foam? From the accompanying article:
So what exactly is that foam? From the accompanying article:
That "organic material" was most likely the effects of raw sewage pouring into the water during the storm.Poor Ponyo...
"It doesn't taste great," he said.
He said it had a sandy consistency and added, "I can tell you first-hand, it doesn't smell great."
The foam is often a toxic mix of pollution and cyanobacteria.

World's oldest person marks 115th birthday
From Yahoo! News:
About 15 to 20 friends and relatives have gathered in Georgia to celebrate the birthday of Besse Cooper, who is listed as the world's oldest person. My reason for posting the above is that it is so in line with what the Bible states that God imposed regarding how long we have to live:
Cooper turned 115 Friday.
Her daughter-in-law Edith Cooper said the group gathered at a Monroe nursing home, where Besse Cooper enjoyed two small slivers of her birthday cake and nodded with approval as musician Mike Cronic sang "Tennessee Waltz."
Cooper was born in Tennessee and moved to Georgia during World War I to find work as a teacher. She has 12 grandchildren and more than a dozen great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Luther, died in 1963.
3 Then the LORD said, “My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.”And thousands of years later, with all our technology, there still seems to be an upper limit on lifespan almost exactly at that number. I find that pretty darned amazing.
Irony: MSNBC Brings On Incompetent Katrina Mayor Ray Nagin to Discuss Hurricane Preparedness
Ray Nagin was the incompetent Mayor of New Orleans who failed to have any plan whatsoever to evacuate the residents of the city including the famous parking lot full of school buses that sat idle while the waters came in. So now you know why Nagin is so qualified to be on MSNBC talking about hurricane preparedness:
Via NewsBusters. And from The Daily Caller:
Via NewsBusters. And from The Daily Caller:
No, this wasn’t meant to be a joke. Although many believe the 2005 response to Hurricane Katrina was a colossal failure at every level of government, former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin appeared on MSNBC on Friday to offer preparedness advice for those in Hurricane Irene’s path.
...Nagin didn’t deny that he made some errors with Katrina in 2005. But he put much of the blame on New Orleanians themselves:
“Well, I would tell you this, Martin: It was a historic, catastrophic event … “[N]ow that I have had a chance to really go back and take a look, there are a number of things that I think that I could have done better. But in an evacuation situation where a catastrophic storm is approaching, the leader has one responsibility, but also the citizen has a responsibility to heed the warnings and act appropriately.”
So I suppose the citizens are to blame for leaving all those buses in the parking lot?

Idiocracy: NC Governor Declares Every Concealed Carry Permit in eastern NC Invalid Due to Hurricane Irene
I feel dumber for having had to even read this bit of utter and complete idiocy:
HT: Instapundit
UPDATE: An update from Confederate Yankees: "I'd forgotten we were stuck with this crap last year as well."
Thanks to a brain-dead state law foisted upon us by a Democratic state legislature (N.C. Gen. Stat. § 14-288.7), every time the governor—in this instance, Democrat Beverly Perdue—declares a state of emergency, it is illegal from that moment onward to carry a concealed weapon until the state of emergency has been declared over.Um - isn't a time of emergency precisely the time you would likely need to be able to defend yourself the most? More:14-288.7. Transporting dangerous weapon or substance during emergency; possessing off premises; exceptions. (a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, it is unlawful for any person to transport or possess off his own premises any dangerous weapon or substance in any area:
(1) In which a declared state of emergency exists; or
(2) Within the immediate vicinity of which a riot is occurring.
(b) This section does not apply to persons exempted from the provisions of G.S. 14-269 with respect to any activities lawfully engaged in while carrying out their duties.
(c) Any person who violates any provision of this section is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.
We've dealt with this bit of Democrat-generated stupidity before.Since when do state bureaucrats or politicians get to suspend fundamental constitutional rights for any reason? Irene by the way is weakening:
Governor Purdue made this declaration while the state was at work, meaning everyone who has a carry permit and lives east of Interstate 95 who was away from home instantly became a criminal by proclamation.
If we look at Google Maps, that means that a carry permit holder in Wilson dining at the Cracker Barrel is perfectly legal, but the permit holder a block to the east filling up on gas at the Kangaroo Express is now a criminal.

To be fair, it's just as plausible as global warming. Which is to say, it's not.

Cape Hatteras, NC, Evacuates Ahead Of Hurricane Irene

Via The Detroit News: N.C. island begins evacuations as Category 3 Hurricane Irene approaches
Evacuations began on a tiny barrier island off North Carolina as Hurricane Irene strengthened to a major Category 3 storm over the Bahamas on Wednesday with the East Coast in its sights. So why is the evacuation of Cape Hatteras something I would blog about? I was there. On vacation. No more than 2 weeks ago!
Irene's maximum sustained winds increased to near 115 mph with additional strengthening forecast, the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said.
The evacuation in North Carolina was a test of whether people in the crosshairs of the first major hurricane along the East Coast in years would heed orders to get out of the way.
The first ferry to leave Ocracoke Island arrived just before 5:30 a.m. in nearby Hatteras with around a dozen cars on board.
It won't be easy to get thousands of people off Ocracoke Island, which is accessible only by boat. The 16-mile-long barrier island is home to about 800 year-round residents and a tourist population that swells into the thousands when vacationers rent rooms and cottages. Tourists were told to evacuate Wednesday. Island residents were told to get out on Thursday.

Video of Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson: Earth is not an ideal environment for the existence of life
Could have fooled me, pal! Why would he say such a thing? Because "99 percent of all species that ever lived are now extinct," he says. And as such "that is not the signature of a planet that is in love with life." Of course, the great flood had a thing or two to do with that 99% figure. Anyway:
