Employers added no net workers last month and the unemployment rate was unchanged, a sign that many were nervous the U.S. economy is at risk of slipping into another recession.Worse yet, 120,000 - 150,000 jobs need to be created each month just to keep up with population growth as teenagers age into the job market. So a goose egg on paper is a huge net negative.
The Labor Department said Friday total payrolls were unchanged in August, the weakest report in almost a year. It's the first time since February 1945 that the government has reported a net job change of zero. The unemployment rate stayed at 9.1 percent. Here's perhaps the most infuriating part though - we're being lied to:
Enron has nothing on Uncle Sam. The real unemployment rate by the way is 16%, not 9.1%. The way the government calculates the unemployment rate makes Enron look honest by comparison. That's in addition to the almost obligatory downward revision of prior numbers. Obama promised that 3.5 million NEW private-sector jobs would be created by the $1.2 trillion stimulus bill ($800 billion + interest over 10 years since the US is bankrupt) by 2010. Instead, more than 3 million jobs have been lost. Here is what has been happening with Biden's 3-letter word since Obama took over:
...Job gains in June and July were revised lower, to show 57,000 fewer jobs added. ...
Essentially 3 million fewer jobs to lose, and that's neglecting the corrections that were made to the jobs numbers from 2009 and more recently that showed even bigger losses. Recall that the stimulus package was supposed to stop the unemployment rate at 8%! A crisis could become a calamity? Remember that? Obama promised the unemployment rate would not exceed 8% if Congress gave him a $1.2 trillion (including interest) slush fund in the form of the stimulus boondoggle:January US jobs lost: 598,000 jobs

Here's what he has to show for all that debt:
And 2011 isn't looking any better than 2010.
