Heh: Detroit launches gun buyback program, man brings grenades

“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,” Obama in July 2008
And if they bring a gun to the fight, we bring a grenade... The aftermath of Detroit's gun buyback program after one man brought a grenade to sell back:
From The Detroit News:
Detroit Police have set prices for their "no questions asked" gun buyback program: An assault weapon fetches up to $200, handguns and rifles that don't fire will net $25 each and police pay $50 for each working gun.

There is no protocol, however, for hand grenades.

Police were surprised today when a man brought two grenades to the buyback program at Second Ebenezer Church on the city's east side.

"The Bomb Squad was called in to handle that," said Detroit Police Sgt. Eren Stephens. Police detonated the explosives.

The man who brought the grenades also brought in other weapons, for which he received payment. "But we don't buy grenades," Stephens said.
How long before someone brings in mortar shells and a bazooka? It is Detroit after all, one of most dangerous cities on the PLANET, alongside Baghdad and  Beirut, as ranked by CNN last spring.
