Video: Obama’s Job Loss Speech Tonight In One Word: DETROITIFICATION

The Mackinac Center's Jack McHugh had this FB thread a while back:

"Detroitification": Hollowing out the private sector to prop up an unsustainable government (and school) establishment. Why unsustainable? Because it's a political operation where the incentives on legislators and school boards are to keep boosting pay and benefits of public employees while resisting any productivity-improving changes that impose ... greater accountability on the system and its players. If that means extracting ever more loot from a shrinking private sector economy, too bad.

What precisely are those incentives on legislators? School employees and their unions are part of a government employee "Praetorian Guard," unified, well organized and well funded, who use their well-honed political shields and swords to protect those "emperors" who keep the loot flowing, and knock off any who don't.
It describes pretty much what Obama has been doing to America, and before him what Jennifer Granholm did to the State of Michigan. Along those lines: Obama’s Job Loss Speech Aims to Make America End Up Like Detroit
President Obama’s cozy relationship with union bosses, as evidenced by his recent speech in Detroit, Michigan before Big Labor, promises to continue “paybacks” for their big investment in 2008.
