He followed that up just a couple of weeks later by bypassing Congress and changing rules on his own, in this case an unconstitutional executive order telling ICE to no longer deport illegals with no criminal record (the fact that they are illegal apparently doesn't mean anything anymore). And the liberal media is giving executive fiat a thumbs up: Editorial: Deportation policies get focused more humanely
Last week, the Department of Homeland Security announced new guidelines for all immigration agencies to ensure that enforcement priorities are focused on people who threaten the nation's security or public safety.Um- isn't the resettlement of America by ILLEGAL ALIENS by its very definition a threat to national security?
Um - illegal aliens already have a path to citizenship. Go back to their home country, apply, and get in line like every other legal immigrant has done! GOOD GRIEF! Senator Inhofe is absolutely correct in this statement:
The government said it will delay, indefinitely, deporting many illegal immigrants who don't have criminal records and offer them a chance to apply for work permits. Policy changes will include a case-by-case review of 300,000 illegal immigrants facing deportation in federal immigration courts.
This long overdue move by the Obama administration falls far short of the comprehensive immigration reform this country needs, including an earned path to citizenship for immigrants already here. Still, it is a step toward more humane, practical and effective policies.
“We now have a president, and I don’t mean this disrespectfully, who is destroying these very institutions that made America great” - Inhofe, R-OklaUPDATE: The comments section of the freep is utterly brutal. Overwhelmingly opposed to the Obama amnesty and to the freep editorial.
