Good Grief: Joe Biden Affirms China's One-Child Policy, Forced Abortions

Do remember that Biden is a self-proclaimed practicing Catholic, and if you question it he will choke you with his prayer beads. The Catholic Church is unequivocal in calling abortion what it is: murder. Well that's not what Biden thinks. From LifeNews via memeorandum: Biden to China: “Not Second-Guessing” One-Child Policy

In his statement, Biden talked about the other set of concerns about the one-child policy — demographic — in that China will increasingly have similar problems to the United States in terms of paying for entitlements to the growing number of people retiring who will need government support to make ends meet and a smaller population of younger workers able to take care of those obligations.

“But as I was talking to some of your leaders, you share a similar concern here in China.  You have no safety net,” Biden said in the prepared remarks. “Your policy has been one which I fully understand — I’m not second-guessing — of one child per family.  The result being that you’re in a position where one wage earner will be taking care of four retired people.  Not sustainable.”

“So hopefully we can act in a way on a problem that’s much less severe than yours, and maybe we can learn together from how we can do that,” he continued.

The policy has stirred global controversy since it was implemented, as it has resulted in massive campaigns of forced abortions and sterilizations, fines for families violating the rule, sentences to prison and forced labor camps for violators and their families who shelter them from government officials, home detention, loss of jobs or government benefits, beatings and other human rights abuses.

BOEHNER ON BIDEN’S ONE-CHILD POLICY PRAISE: “I’m deeply troubled by the comments reportedly made by the Vice President yesterday regarding China’s reprehensible one-child policy, which has resulted in forced sterilizations and coerced abortions and should not be condoned by any American official. No government on Earth has the authority to place quotas on the value of innocent human life, or to treat life as an economic commodity that can be regulated and taken away on a whim by the state. I hope and trust that the Vice President didn’t actually say what has been reported, and that a correction or clarification from the White House will be forthcoming.”

UPDATE #2: White House: When Biden said he “fully understands” China’s one-child policy, he totally meant the opposite

This excuse wouldn’t fly for any other public figure in Washington, but when you remember that this is a guy who greeted Gabby Giffords by welcoming her to the “Cracked Head Club,” the idea that he means exactly the opposite of what he says doesn’t seem so implausible.

Maybe during that Democratic caucus meeting on the debt ceiling he really meant that tea partiers have acted like patriots?

As I mentioned in my previous post, I contacted the White House this afternoon for an explanation of Vice President Biden’s stunning remarks regarding China’s odious one-child policy. Moments ago, I received the following on-the-record statement from Biden’s press secretary, Kendra Barkoff:

“The Obama Administration strongly opposes all aspects of China’s coercive birth limitation policies, including forced abortion and sterilization. The Vice President believes such practices are repugnant. He also pointed out, in China, that the policy is, as a practical matter, unsustainable. He was arguing against the One Child Policy to a Chinese audience.”

Repugnant? This is the same guy that supported 4th trimester abortion (ie - infanticide) 4 times with his vote as an Illinois Senator.
