Oak Park resident Julie Bass made the mistake of daring to grow a vegetable garden in her front yard, that landed her under the foot of the ruling class wielding vague regulations as to what she could and could not do with her own property:
She was to face a jury trial and ultimately jail time. But like cockroaches scattering when the lights go on, the bureauweenies scattered when the news went national: About time: Detroit Suburb Drops Charges Against Woman For Growing Vegetable Garden. But the absurdity of the whole thing landed the episode, and its perpetrator, as the Nanny of the Month:
